These Endowment Funds have been established through The Jewish Communal Appeal in partnership with Donors who, in most cases, are the trustees of these funds.

Jewish Communal Appeal is very grateful to the donors and trustees who's generosity, foresight and ongoing commitment to the Jewish Community have made these Endowment Funds possible. Their kindness and generosity have allowed a variety of projects to be developed helping many people in the community, particularly those most at need.

JEWISH COMMUNAL APPEAL ANONYMOUS FUND

Purpose:

To support within the Jewish community:

  1. welfare, family and aged services; or
  2. the development of women in the community and causes associated with the work of women’s groups in the community

Projects seeking funding from this fund should not be of a religious nature.

Priority Interests: Welfare, Family, Aged Services and Women

Geographic Focus: New South Wales and the ACT

Grant frequency: Annual

Annual Disbursement: Varies according to the funds in hand. Grants are awarded annually but in some cases for periods up to three years. Generally individual grants will amount to no more than $100,000 a year.

JEWISH COMMUNAL APPEAL HABERMAN & KULAWICZ FUND

Purpose:
To provide, in order of preference:

  1. Financial support for under-privileged Jewish tertiary students.
  2. Financial support for the development of Jewish based programs and activities for Jewish teenagers and young adults.
  3. Financial support for welfare programs for aged care and women.

Priority Interests: Teenagers and young adults

Geographic Focus: New South Wales.

Grant frequency: Annual

Annual Disbursement: Varies according to the funds in hand. Grants are awarded annually but in some cases for periods up to three years. Generally individual grants will amount to no more than $20,000 a year.

JEWISH COMMUNAL APPEAL LOTBEN FUND IN LOVING MEMORY OF LOTKA AND BERNARD FERSTER

Purpose:
To be applied, in order of preference, for:

  1. Supporting inter-generational activities and programs which are innovative and bring about an interaction and understanding between generations of Jews.
  2. Supporting inter-community activities and programs, including between the Jewish and non-Jewish communities, which foster understanding and mutual respect.

Priority Interests: intergenerational and intercommunity projects

Geographic Focus: New South Wales and ACT.

Grant frequency: Annual

Annual Disbursement: Annual amount varies according to the funds in hand. Grants are awarded annually but in some cases for periods up to two years.
Allocations for 2007 will be for one or two projects totalling up to $40,000.

JEWISH COMMUNAL APPEAL GITTEL, BERTA AND NISSAN WILKENFELD SHOAH EDUCATION FUND

Purpose:
To provide:

  1. Scholarships for school aged students to participate in the “March of the Living” Program.
  2. Scholarships for school aged students to participate in other Holocaust education and remembrance programs sponsored, organised or participated in by a secondary school or schools.
  3. Scholarships for tertiary students to participate in Holocaust education and remembrance programs as part of their tertiary studies or accredited leadership programs.
  4. Support for any other projects relating to holocaust education.

Priority Interests: school age and young adults

Geographic Focus: New South Wales and ACT.

Grant frequency: Annual

JEWISH COMMUNAL APPEAL MICHAEL FAKTOR LEADERSHIP FUND

Purpose:

To provide:

  1. Jewish educational programs for school aged children and young adults up to thirty (30) years of age
  2. Training for Jewish educators
  3. Jewish leadership training for school aged children and young adults up to thirty (30) years of age
  4. Provision of opportunities for young Jewish adults to visit Israel as part of their Jewish education and leadership development
  5. Promotion of the centrality of Israel in Jewish life within existing structures (e.g. Jewish Schools)

Priority Interests: school age and young adults up to thirty (30) years of age

Geographic Focus: New South Wales and ACT.

Grant frequency: Annual

Annual Disbursement: varies according to the funds in hand. Grants are awarded for periods up to three years.

Allocations for 2007 will be for one or two projects totalling up to $20,000.
