Our vision is to ensure Jewish continuity. The purpose of our three interconnected activities - fundraising, planning and facilitating – is, in partnership with our present and future member organisations, to safeguard our welfare and strengthen our vibrancy.
Mission
Our mission is to enable our present and future member organisations, through their partnership with the JCA and our donors, to meet the future needs of our community by providing outstanding, cost-effective programs in the areas of education, community care, health, aged care, disability, political representation, security, cultural services and sport. The JCA meets its objectives through the application of a powerful combination of highly skilled and motivated lay leaders, a committed volunteer base and professional staff, strong community and donor engagement, and communal planning insight.
Profile
The Jewish Communal Appeal is the fundraiser, planner and facilitator for the New South Wales and ACT Jewish communities.
Established in 1967, the JCA founders instituted a single unified fundraising appeal and united the NSW Jewish community. The JCA was founded to manage this communal appeal and to enable an equitable distribution of communal funds.
Our first appeal some 42 years ago raised $340,000. We have grown from humble beginnings and the range of Jewish organisations and services has continued to expand. Today, there are 21 member organisations covering community care services, schools, tertiary and continuing education, disability, health, aged care, cultural affairs, advocacy, security and sport.
The JCA raises funds for distribution amongst its members, facilitates appropriate interaction between communal organisations to ensure appropriate use of resources and plans for future communal needs. We work with our member organisations to ensure optimal use of community resources, efficient delivery of communal services and careful planning for future needs.
JCA is further committed to ensuring our community remains one of the most vibrant and robust Jewish communities in the world. We work to engage, educate and support our community in an attempt to strengthen Jewish continuity and to preserve the Jewish legacy for future generations to come.
