Leave a Legacy

Bequests

Leave a legacy for our community

By leaving a gift in your will, you continue to contribute to the vibrancy and strength of the NSW and ACT Jewish communities.

What is a bequest?

Bequests and legacies are particular items or sums of money given as gifts upon the death of a generous donor.

After providing for your loved ones, and once all debts and expenses are paid out, you may choose to leave a bequest to JCA and the community. With 22 organisations covering all spectrums of Jewish life and providing for those less fortunate than ourselves, your gift can impact on the lives of many for generations to come.

Including a bequest in your Will now has no impact on your lifestyle today and is the ultimate commitment to our community today, tomorrow, forever.

Types of bequests

There are various forms of bequest you might consider, including:

  • A residual of your estate after specific gifts and costs have been distributed (Residual bequest)
  • A stated amount of money (Pecuniary bequest)
  • Specific items (Specific bequest)
  • A gift to be received after the passing of a significant other (Contingency bequest)

Endowments

“A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit.” D. Elton Trueblood

An endowment to JCA secures the Jewish life of our community and cements financial certainty on which JCA can build a program to connect people with the organisations and services they require without being restricted to a dependency on our annual fundraising campaign. Income generated by the investment of these funds supports projects or programs that need funding today, tomorrow, and forever.

An endowment consists of funds or property given to JCA to be invested and developed into an extraordinary resource. Endowed funds can be unrestricted, providing a financial reserve that can be used to meet current needs, can create exciting new opportunities as they arise, or can be designated for specific purposes.

Establishing an endowment is an act of great generosity and vision. Donors who decide to create an endowment do so because they understand the importance of supporting the community not only during their lifetime, but as a living legacy for generations to come.
