COA Sydney

The COA is dedicated to enriching the quality of life of Jewish seniors and younger people with a disability. Our aim is to enable them to continue living at home with dignity and independence for as long as is practical. We provide services to those in need of care and support, and social contact to help isolated members of our community feel connected through friendships generated at our Centre.

COA Services:
Our Centre
- at 25 Rowe St Woollahra, offers a range of enjoyable and meaningful activities. We present a range of programs from stimulating lectures, concerts, and parties, outings, gentle exercise, tai chi, bridge, languages, knitting and computer classes, weekly movie presentations, bowling, bridge and more in a welcoming atmosphere with dedicated staff, we encourage participation! To enable members to attend we provide transport to and from the Centre. Call us for a program today.

Kosher Meals-on-Wheels - One of our major initiatives is the provision of the nutritious Kosher Meals home delivered and subsidised by COA. Our team of volunteers travel to the East, North Shore and other outlying areas by arrangement.

Home Support - In addition we provide assistance with the broad range of Home Support services. Our social workers make a holistic assessment of individual needs.
They coordinate and monitor the Care Worker Placement program providing; domestic assistance, personal care, companionship and carer relief, transport to appointments, and specific needs of Holocaust survivors.

Outreach – Volunteers visit non-denominational nursing homes to alleviate isolation and loneliness and bring a taste of Yiddishkeit through Shabbat candle lighting and celebration of Jewish Festivals with traditional foods, music and entertainment. Emotional support is extended to families of those residents. In addition, visits are made to members in hospital and at home, as well as a phone monitoring service to those isolated in our community.

Referral and Information - on available services for aged care.

Volunteers:
Volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work from delivering meals to governing the organisation. They are given the opportunity to use their skills and life experience to help others. Our aim is to empower through volunteering, ensuring they have a sense of belonging and ownership.
