National Council of Jewish Women of Australia

NCJWA WOMEN WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND SHAPE THE FUTURE LOCALLY, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY

NCJWA was the first Jewish women’s organisation in Australia founded by Dr Fanny Reading MBE in Sydney in 1923 and nationally in 1929.

NCJWA is the only Australian Jewish women’s organisation working for the benefit of Israel, the Jewish and general community in Australia.

NCJWA promotes social justice and human rights; the advancement of women; Jewish education and welfare. These aims are achieved through education, social activism, the promotion of multicultural tolerance and community services.

NCJWA is represented at the UN through affiliation to the International Council of Jewish Women and is the only Jewish Women’s member organisation of the Australian Women’s Coalition. NCJWA is affiliated to many Jewish and non- Jewish organisations in Australia
