The Jewish Folk Centre was established in 1941, as the Nazis were trying to destroy the Yiddish language and culture. It provides regular classes, talks and activities in Yiddish, maintains a Yiddish library, a Hebrew library and supports the Roth lectureship in Yiddish and Jewish Civilisation at Sydney University.
